Welcome
For King County Project Access (KCPA), opening doors means removing the logistical and financial barriers to specialty medical care for patients and physicians.
A Model of Care that Works
KCPA screens all patient referrals to ensure that appropriate tests and paperwork are completed BEFORE the uninsured patient goes to see a specialist. By arranging for the necessary laboratory and imaging services as well as qualified interpreters, we remove the barriers that prevent patients from keeping their appointments with medical specialists. More than 96% of KCPA patients keep their appointments, compared to fewer than 70% in typical uninsured populations.
Who Volunteers?
More than 460 physicians and other health care providers currently volunteer with King County Project Access.
Based on the principal of sharing the load of caring for the uninsured across a broad section of the provider community, providers commit to seeing a discrete number of uninsured each year.

Who Do We Serve?
Our patients are referred to us for specialty care from safety net, primary care providers throughout King County and all are uninsured or underinsured.
Nearly 80% of our patients live at or below 150 percent of the federal poverty level. More than 33 percent of our patients speak a language other than English.
